What are the dates and times of the SPI Open Water Festival? 

Saturday Nov 4, 2017 - Saturday activities list TBA soon,  welcome reception 

Sunday Nov 5, 2017 - 8:30am  Triton ONE and Triton      races,  11am -  Triton Sprint events 

Where can I find a map of the course? 

A map of the course is included under the Race Info tab and will be included in the welcome packet

What is the time limit for the 1 Mile and 5k events? 

The races will run simultaneously with the cut-off being 2 hours after the start 

Are refunds offered for this event? 

No.  Entry Fees are non-refundable.  This policy applies regardless if you become ill, injured, have an unexpected emergency,  pregnancy,  travel issues etc.  

Are transfers allowed? 

Any entry transfers must be submitted a minimum of 10 days prior to the event. 

What is the average air temperature in Nov on South Padre Island? 

63- Low , 75- High 

What is the average water temperature in November in South Padre Island? 

70 - Low ,  78 - High

Is this event timed? 

Yes this event is timed.  Awards will be given in Youth and Adult Age Groups for 1st - 3rd place. 

Are there Age Group Awards?  

Yes.  Participants will compete in the following male and female age groups.  

10 & Under,  11-12, 13-14, 15-18

Awards will be given to the top three finishers in the listed age groups. 

Will there be a bag check? 

There will not be a bag check on site 

Is the course out and back or point to point? 

The course for both races is out and back.  The 5k course wil consist of multiple laps of the same course. 

How do I get to the Start Point on Race Day? 

There is limited parking at the Start Point at Pier 19.   Participants can park at the Schlitterbahn Resort across the street and either walk or take the shuttle to the start location.  

What is the shuttle schedule? 

Shuttle schedule will be posted at least 2 weeks prior to race day 

When and where is packet pick-up? 

Check- in details are currently being finalized and will be posted at least 30 days prior to the event. 

What do I need for packet pick-up? 

You will need to bring a copy of your confirmation email and a photo ID. 

How do I sign up as a volunteer? 

You can sign up as a volunteer on the registration page for the event. 

Can I switch events?  

Participants are allowed to switch events ( if space permits ) , however switches must be submitted at least 7 days prior to the start of the event.   Please email casey@openwaterplanet.com with any changes.
